Mini Pupillage

Seriously considering a career as a barrister? Want to get a flavour of the work?

Bank House Chambers offers enjoyable and rewarding mini-pupillage opportunities lasting 2 or 5 days. This gives you a window on what it’s like to work as a barrister and provides essential experience should you apply for a full pupillage in future, either here or at any other set of chambers.

We particularly welcome enquiries from those who are currently in a career other than legal, as well as mature students, so they can see whether the Bar might be for them.

How our mini-pupillages work

  • You’ll be assigned to one of our barristers, who will supervise you
  • You’ll be invited to attend court on cases for which our barristers have been instructed
  • You’ll sit in on conferences with clients
  • You may be asked to do some legal research

Our terms

  • If you’re in education, you must be at least a second-year undergraduate
  • 5-day mini-pupillages are only offered between July and September
  • If you’re offered a mini-pupillage here, we expect you to commit fully, work hard, and conduct yourself professionally at all times
  • We can only offer one mini-pupillage at any one time
  • We retain records of all mini-pupillage applications for at least a year
  • We can’t offer any other type of work experience besides mini-pupillages
